The Giglio S.p.A. started three generation ago.
The fourth generation is driving the company forward.
It was born of a small shop of draper's shop interwar and is so much developing over the years that today it's a wonderful reality.
Now the Giglio S.p.A. has a staff of about a hundred divided amongst shop assistants, goods arrival and logistics, accounting and administrative office and e-commerce area.
The firm is entirely owned and managed by the Giglio family with the most up-to-date business administration techniques and the aid of state-of-the-art technologies.
Totally wired-up and computerized, the company uses the best hardware ans software solutions in order to optimize every management and informative process.
Communications inside and outside the company are canalized on Voip through software operators.
Each shop is computerized, so we can know the real time sell out situation.
Giglio S.p.A. is completely customer-satisfaction-oriented. We have always dedicated considerable efforts to the management of customer service and now our firm has a CRM system taking great care over customers.


History


Michele Giglio learnt back in the '60s vital knowledge such as passion for details and interest in customer relations.
He learnt this from the tradition developed by his family in the textiles and haberdashery shop owned by his father and grandfather.


The first steps were made after the conversion in 1970 of a one-man business into a S.r.l., with the transformation of the haberdashery shop into a clothes store and the opening of new sales outlets.


Entirely owned and managed by the Giglio family, this firm has been converted into a S.p.A. starting a remarkable and progressive rise over the last years in which other stores were opened while others completely renovated.


Sinergy amongst the stores is the strenght of the group. Each shop is situated around Piazza Croci in the middle of viale della Libertà.


Piazza Croci is nowadays recognized by citizens and tourists as the centre of elegance and fashion.

This is how Piazza Crispi looked like back in the early years of twentieth century.
The photograph on the left is a wonderful original document of that period that show the Liberty style splendid villas on viale della Libertà. On the left there is the Palazzo which now houses our GIGLIO IN store. The building has survived unaltered up to the present day tanks to several restoration carried out, many times, by our firm.

Talking about GIGLIO IN shop, on the left there is an extraordinary document: the original handwritten receipt of the maestro Carlo Scarpa who realized the first architectural layout of the store.
The first layout of our company logo of 1965.
The logo was created by the graphic designer Franco Giacometti who was one of the most highly regarded professionals at that time. He collaborated with important brand of the Italian industry like, for example, Benetton andAprilia Motorcycle.
Today, after 40 years, our logo is so extraordinarily contemporary that it has been subjected just to small restyling over the years.

Versace started his long and successful career as a Genny’sdesigner.
Our company has appreciated the huge potential and the big creativity of the young designer since his first fashion show.
We formed a great collaboration with the maestro Gianni Versace that has lasted his entire career and it still continues with his sister Donatella who has inherited the creative direction of the brand with great ability.
On the right there is the document that marked the collaboration with Fiorucci which was a popular label among fashion Italian teenagers, between the 70s and the 80s.
Fiorucci was for many years after on sale at the GIGLIO IN store together with all the up-and-coming international designer of fashion and accessories like Mary Quant, Biba, Kenzo, etc.

Ricevuta Christian Dior 1973Ricevuta Piere Cardin - 1974Other two documents from our records: on the left, one of the first receipt of Christian Dior that is dated 1973 and arrived from the historic headquarter of Avenue Montaigne in Paris.
It testify the very long collaboration which has united the French Maison and our firm that today is still the exclusive retailer of Dior label for apparel and sophisticated accessories.
Giglio Boutique Donna is one of the few multi-labels stores in the world that can offer Dior accessories to their customers.
On the right there is a receipt of the historic French brandPierre Cardin, we had very good business relations with, until this label started decadence period it never got over again.


The photographs below portray Giuseppe Giglio and his son Michele inside the historic shop in Via Ponticello, in the heart of the old town centre.

This one of the first labels that were applied onto the hand-tailored garments, realized with the fabrics on sale at the ancient shop.

The authorization (right photo) is rubber-stamped on the back of the photograph that was used for application (left photo).
